Corsica is renowned as a magnificent coastal island with rich history and culture, distinct geographical landscapes, picturesque towns, and unique culinary traditions. This mountainous Mediterranean region is also famous for natural parks and reserves, occupying nearly half of the Island.

With our bed and breakfast accommodations in Corsica you and your family won’t be left disappointed. Bed and breakfast speak for itself, meaning that you will have a nice and cozy vacation home in the middle of nature that also includes tasty treats in the mornings made by your friendly landlords. The cottages are separate and you can be assured that you will have your privacy. With stylish design and modern furniture, the houses in which you will be staying are a little piece of heaven on earth. They are big enough for the whole family and some are accessible for your four-legged companion as well.

Nature

Corsica is a sparsely populated island, given the fact that the island is mostly made of rugged coastline and mountains. Calanques de Piana are creeks located on the west coast of Piana. Famous for stunning rock formations, magnificent mountains, needle, and red granite cliffs and panoramic views. At this natural haven, you will encounter rocks conjured up like animals or figures such as a dog's head or a heart.

The Archipelagos of Lavezzi is made out of small granite islands and reefs that separate Sardina from Corsica in the Mediterranean Seas. On the main island, you can discover a footpath that leads up to a 46-foot memorial, pyramid-shaped cemeteries tributary to the Sémillante shipwreck of February 15th, 1855 that claimed the lives of over 700 soldiers and sailors. One of the UNESCO World Heritage Site list candidates is the Scandola Nature Reserve with its grottos, red cliffs, numerous stacks of cute islets and coves, beautiful sandy beaches, and headlands. If you are visiting Desert des Agriates, make sure to put on some good and comfortable shoes. It is a vast area of uninhibited land, consisting of clumps of cacti and scrub-covered rocks and rugged coastline with the two most stunning beaches on Corsica Island.

The Ostriconi beach, also called the beach of Pergola, is famous for its wild and rugged beauty. This beach is a remote, untouched, quiet, and charming spot and is abundant of powdered sand, rocks, and beautiful turquoise water. Other famous wild beaches are Roccapina and Saleccia. Deeper inland you will find Alta Rocca and it's beautiful hills, dotted with oak forest, pines and chestnut trees, making it a perfect destination for a holiday of great adventure and discovery. The highest two points on the island are Monte Cinto with 2706m and Monte Rotondo with 2622m. Characteristic of the island is the vegetation with maquis: a rough, herbaceous thicket. The steep slopes are also covered with cork, pine and walnut trees. There is no other island in the Mediterranean that is as green as Corsica.

Activities

GR 20 is a stunning 180km long footpath that passes through the Island, perfect for hiking or cycling. Be sure to take your picnic bag with you, because it will be a shame not to have a nice and relaxing lunch in a remote place surrounded by nature.

Be sure to take your sunscreen if you are planning to have a day at the beach. Although the weather is Mediterranean in the middle of summer the temperatures can be pretty scorching. There you can try snorkeling and discover the magical underwater world of the tropical island. More than 150 species of fish live in these waters. Swim in the crystal waters in which you don’t even need goggles to see underwater. You can try surfing, kite surfing, windsurfing, kayaking or jet skiing. There are many affordable scuba diving courses, which offer exploration of sunken shipwrecks along the coast.

If you are not a fan of water, try out some mountainous activities like bouldering, cliff climbing or mountain biking. Explore the many caves, but be sure you have the right equipment for that. You can find a quiet spot in the forest and have a relaxing yoga or meditation exercise. Take your kids and go on a bug hunt. That is the best way for you to teach them which insect will sting and which is just minding their own business. And at the end of the day go back to your B&B accommodation, light up the barbeque and open a cold one, while enjoying the sunset. You can then snuggle up on the cozy couch with your loved one and watch some TV, without a single worry in the world.

Climate

The climate of Corsica is Mediterranean on the coast, with mild, rainy winters and warm, sunny summers, while in inland areas it gradually becomes colder with increasing altitude.
