The couliss landscape around Aalten is very varied. Hills, farmland, meadows, forest landscapes and plains alternate each other. A perfect starting point for beautiful cycling and hiking routes. There are several routes available. Outside, you will find a large vegetable garden at the landlords, often you can use the excess of vegetables for a small fee. This also applies to eggs. Jam and apple juice of own fruit trees are available in the landlord's farm shop. Nearby the nature house you will find the Vennebulten, the Aaltens Goor and a nice gnome forest for the youngest guests. In the vicinity of Aalten are multiple natural areas such as the Slinge lake, Loohuis forest, the Walfort estate, the Klooster forest and Zwanenbroek. In the outskirts of Winterswijk the Korenburgerveen, the Wooldseveen, Buskers forest, Bekendelle and the Quarry (Steengroeve) are situated. Vragenderveen is only 15 kilometers away. Over the border is a beautiful hiking area, various bike and hiking routes are available at the landlord or at the tourist office. Close to Aalten is the book town of Bredevoort, which is definitely worth a visit.
