Located on the top of a hill, the nature house in a semi wild garden and it is surrounded by neighbouring pastures. Just a short stroll away form Lough Hyne Marine Reserve, it is the perfect place to enjoy peace and quiet after a long day spent exploring West Cork. Located on a back road between the thriving market town of Skibbereen (about five kilometres) and the seaside village of Baltimore (six kilometres), this is a simple, rustic and comfortable old house, where you can enjoy books and music, but where you will not find a TV. In the summer, when the house is available for you, the landlord lives in a caravan in the garden with two dogs, while I live in the house during the rest of the year - this means that there is a lot of my personal belonging inside :)

The half acre garden is being rewilded, and there is a vegetable garden with a polytunnel, so there may be fresh herbs and salads on your doorstep! The large fields around the house are dedicated to cows, the only neighbours you can see from the window! A 10 minutes walk will take you to Lough Hyne - the first Marine Reserve in Ireland and Europe, and a unique sea-water lake where swimming and kayaking are unique experiences. The hill overliking the lake is also a nature reserve, Knocknomagh, and the views from the top are some of the best you can find in the while of Ireland. Skibbereen hosrts a lively farmers Market on a Saturday morning, where you can find the best vegetables, cheese, eggs produced locally by small farms - most of them organic.
