A traditional rustic village house, on the edge of Polopos village by the open countryside of the Polopos valley. The house is about 100 years old, and has the irregularities and character of a traditional Andalusian house. There are three rooms and a bathroom on the ground floor and two rooms on the first floor which open onto a terrace of 12m2 which offers a panoramic view of the hills and the sea. There are ceilings of wooden beams, and terracotta floors. The house is furnished in a traditional and simple style with pine and cane furniture. There are all the amenities: electric hot water, electric and butane gas heating, shower, fridge and a granite kitchen worktop. The stairs up to 1st floor are quite steep. There is limited wifi, (OK 3G/4G signal in part of the house). No TV. Polopos as recently seen on Dutch TV is a very quiet and beautiful village, about 4 km from the sea directly (10 km on a good road).

Nature and surroundings

Polopos is situated in a very rural area at the head of a valley, at 788m in altitude and with a spectacular view out across the Mediterranean. It is perfect countryside for walking, there are 4 walks on www.walkingworld.com. On a clear winter day you can sometimes see across to Africa. Polopos looks out over the beautiful Polopos valley. It is in the Sierra Contraviesa, a very hilly area of olives, almonds, vines, oranges and goats. The botany is beautiful and abundant . In Haza de Lino above Polopos is the highest cork oak forest in Europe and the most ancient in the Iberian Peninsula. In the ravines and valleys are wetlands with a rich flora. Only 10 km down from Polopos the coast has a Mediterranean-subtropical climate with its flora. There is a very nice vegetarian restaurant in Polopos, the Cantina Verde, and also many other good local restaurants in Castell de Ferro, La Mamola and Haza de Lino.. The area is also interesting for local hand-made Fajalauza ceramics.
