This fully self-contained and spacious apartment with wood stove is located in a former elementary school in the beautiful ash village of Gees. We live here with our three small children and are currently finishing our own future apartment in the building. From the schoolyard you can walk through our backyard directly into the nearby nature reserve. It is a quiet place, with beautiful views, but with the occasional pleasant sounds of children playing in the background ;)Both the living room and the bedroom are plastered with loam and painted with loam paint. This ensures a healthy indoor environment. Guests enter the school building through the main entrance (auditorium) and get the key to their own apartment with all the trimmings. The apartment has 1 bedroom and is equipped for two adults, but by arrangement we can place a crib or camp bed If an iron or washer/dryer is needed, please ask us.

Gees is a beautifully preserved esdorp that is not much inferior to its "big" brother Orvelte. And Gees has the largest boulder in Drenthe. Almost four meters long and over two meters high, it lies immovably solid in front of restaurant De Zwerfkei on Dorpsstraat.Out of the 'loop' of the busiest bike paths in Drenthe, boswachterij Gees is a quiet oasis. Fens and heaths break the pattern of deciduous trees. On the east side of the forestry you have beautiful views over the lower open grasslands. And the names of those grasslands are equally beautiful: where else do you find names like Roonboom and Bergstukken? Boswachterij Gees is a quiet piece of Drenthe for wonderful walking and cycling.
