When you stay in a holiday home in this province you will see that there are some crops that are resistant to the climate and are therefore grown a lot. In the south there are several rivers, including the Rio Duero. The landscape here is immediately fresh green and right along the river are wild tree and shrub vegetation to be found. In the north of the province flows the Rio Ebro. The Ebro is surrounded by hilly forests, an ideal location for a wonderful walk from your cottage. Also in the east of Burgos is a hilly area: The Sierra de Demanda.
In the agricultural areas you will often find an alternation between fields and natural elements, which means that these areas also contain interesting plant and animal species. In Burgos, for example, the red partridge, gray bunting and gray bunting occur. When you go out into nature from your cottage, you should also keep an eye on the sky. Birds of prey such as griffon vulture, black kite and marsh harrier fly over regularly. There are many butterflies on the flowery fields at the edges of the forest. On a single day you can easily see many different species, including the Queen's page, Southern Lucerne butterfly, checkerboard and white band sand-eye.
