Easter in Switzerland

When you go for your easter holiday to Switzerland, you are not only celebrating easter but also the beginning of spring. Spring in Switzerland is very enjoyable as the snow is starting to melt, mountain passes will open again, and the winter wonderland will be replaced by lush green valleys with an abundance of flowers. Spring always feels like a metaphorical hug because the days are getting longer and warmer which presents new activities to undertake during your easter break in Switzerland.

Lakes, valleys, and mountains

For those who are ready for an adventure in the mountains, want to roam through valleys, love activities out on the water or want to admire UNESCO sights, Switzerland is the perfect holiday destination. With its extremely varied landscape there is always something to see. Throughout the country you will be able to find no less than 18 national parks which all play an important role in the conservation of nature. As the first rays of sunshine start to appear and the country is waking up from its winter sleep, the colour will start to flow around you as flowers like the camellia, magnolia, Rhododendron, azalea, and daffodils will be beginning to bloom.

As a result of the different climates and altitudes in the country, Switzerland has a wide range of different flora and fauna. In the lowlands, you can find flora like cypresses, and almond trees, while higher up in the mountains oak trees, fir, and pine trees dominate the scenery. Besides all the trees, flowers, and plants, the country is home to more than 40,000 species of animals such as the chamois, ibex, otter, fox, and the lynx. With its untouched nature, alpine landscape, shimmering lakes, thundering waterfalls and icy glaciers, Switzerland will mesmerize every nature lover.

Explore the Swiss nature!

Even though it will still be relatively cold on your easter trip to Switzerland, there are already multiple things you can do. If you are into winter sports and are lucky, you probably will be able to ski, snowboard, or enjoy the last bit of snow. An impressive activity to do in Switzerland is taking the Rhaetian Railway which is one of the world’s most spectacular train routes. This 130 km long trails takes you through the middle of Swiss nature and passing 196 bridges, 20 towns, and 55 tunnels. Or if you want to see Europe’s largest waterfall with your own eyes, take a trip to the Rhine falls.
