European countries provide numerous possibilities to those who wish to explore some natural wonders. Due to the geography of the Old Continent, there is literally anything for anyone. Whether you love the mountains, fancy a hiking trip, want to chill next to a lake or go water rafting – there is always something to see and something to do! European nature is truly exceptional in that it offers visitors hundreds of different adventures to embark on.

Discover the greenest countries in Europe

Although Denmark is considered a Nordic country, it is the southernmost one of them and has a stunning nature for you to explore. Thy National Park is an amazing place in Denmark covered in dunes and forests. It is a truly beautiful place and the oldest protected area in Denmark. Go there and explore pure wilderness among the Danish dunes. Moreover, one of the most beautiful coastal areas we have ever seen is located in Denmark. Its name is Mons Klint and it is the coastal part of the island where vertical chalk cliffs pierce through the water. These rock formations are thousands of years old and surrounded by crystal clear water. You can also see the night sky very clearly here; in fact, except for a UNESCO reserve, this is also Scandinavia’s first Dark Sky Park.

Luxembourg is another great destination with amazing nature. There are many natural reserves in the country, which is truly remarkable considering its size. Our favorite is the nature reserve Brucherbierg - Lallengerbierg. This area is perfect for all activities close to the heart of nature enthusiasts. A former mining territory, this reserve turned from a “lunar landscape” without a single tree to a natural oasis where nature awoke, and animals returned. The area has one of the biggest bat populations in the world, as well as more than 500 types of butterfly species roaming freely among orchids. The river Our begins from the Ardennes in Belgium. In Luxembourg, the river area has been turned into a nature park. It is known as the “Mecca” of sustainable agriculture and development of the European regions and is an amazing recreational space.

Activities to try

In the Natural Park, you can go on a hiking adventure through the dense woods for access to some of the best views of the Ardennes. There are also two medieval castles which you could check out – Bourscheid and Vianden. Families with children could visit the circular walk “Klangwee Hoscheid” where children have a lot of fun while trying to conquer all the obstacles.

Thy National Park can be discovered in many ways – by exploring a 200 km network of trails on foot or by bike. Many of the sights however are difficult to access in a regular manner, therefore you can saddle up and visit them on the back of a horse. The park is open 24/7 and is also a great place for stargazing though the nights, as there is hardly any light pollution nearby.
