The little paradise of Joke and Marius and their two dogs Sam and Sara is located on the centuries-old sandy path the Mûntsegroppe (Monks Treppel), hidden between the tree walls of the protected bocage landscape of the Northern Frisian Woods. On a site of no less than 5000m2 of nature and tranquility. Here you can relax in a private park where birds, hares, deer and hedgehogs also feel at home. The chalet has a living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. In the kitchen you can cook on a 4-burner induction plate. A microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker are also provided. Centrally located with quick access to Drachten in 15 minutes and Groningen, Heerenveen and Leeuwarden only half an hour away. Within 10 minutes you are in Surhuisterveen. A village with a central function, given the wide range of shops and opportunities to pick up a fork.
Nature and surroundings
You will find the charm of yesteryear on this sandy path, in bygone years a connecting route between monasteries in the area. The path is already on maps from 1540. While walking you spot deer and hares, a variety of (predatory) birds and you see cows with their calves grazing in the meadow. The Mûntsegroppe is nowadays easily accessible for cyclists. Connected to the Knooppuntenroute, you can make wonderful cycling trips in the area. The landscape is characterized by small meadows, old paths, but especially by pengo ruins and beautifully intact wooded banks and alder canals. The Open Air Museum & Theme Park De Spitkeet is within walking distance, where you can experience how people lived here in pure poverty at the time. People who sometimes literally gnawed away the hunger in their sod hut / spit shack. A visit to this museum takes you back to the time of the poor, but oh so proud Frisian.
