This nature house is a large detached house on half an acre of land surrounded by terraces with grass and olive trees. The house is located in central Portugal on the outskirts of Vila do Mato, a small authentic village with about 800 inhabitants. The house stands on a hill with a beautiful view of the mountains and every evening a fantastic sunset. Below flows the river Mondego. The house is self-sufficient with its own well and heatpipes on the roof for heating the water. On cold days the house is heated by the wood stove in the living room which also heats the radiators.The interior of the house is modern, bright and spacious. It has 4 (double) bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large living room and an open kitchen. The veranda runs the entire length of the house and keeps the house nice and cool in the summer. Behind the house is an additional terrace. There is no swimming pool, you can swim in the rivers in the area.

This nature house is located halfway between the coast and mountains. At 100 km to the west is the Atlantic coast with beautiful beaches where you can visit coastal villages and eat delicious fish. At 100 km to the east you drive into the largest nature reserve of Portugal, the Serra Estela, where you can make beautiful walks through forests, along waterfalls and through authentic villages. The highest point is at 2000 m. Nearby are also the university city of Coimbra (45 min), the inspiration for Harry Potter books and really worth a visit and Viseu (45 min) Also in the immediate vicinity is much to do. The area is rustic, authentic with lots of nature and small villages. There is still little tourism so it is nice and quiet. You can go hiking, swimming in the river, horseback riding and canoeing, try local dishes in the small local restaurants and wine tasting in one of the famous wineries of the region (Dão) or just enjoy peace and nature around the house.
