About the area De Wieden Nature Reserve is part of National Park Weerribben-Wieden, a huge lake and marsh area in the Kop van Overijssel. Almost 11,000 hectares of wetlands where you can sail, walk and cycle. On the large lakes it can sometimes be quite a storm, but you will also find quiet waters in which the clouds reflect gloriously. Hiking and biking routes Through De Wieden there are circular walks on grass and plank paths, right through reed lands, swampy areas and meadows full of flowers. Once on one of the hiking trails, a view across the water is never far away. There are also plenty of bicycle paths, over dikes and quays, through meadow bird areas and past windmills and monuments.
