The 3.5 km walk along the ramparts gives views of the fortress and city moat. The Drowned Land of Saeftinghe is the largest brackish water salt marsh in Western Europe. You can walk there, although sometimes it's more like walking the mud flats. Just across the border is the Verbeke Foundation, an indoor and outdoor museum with surprising exhibits. The cities of Middelburg and Vlissingen can be reached in 30 minutes by car via the Westerschelde tunnel.
